A collector that increases buoyancy separation for use in the recovery of iron and other metals and certain types of ores, including gold and pyrite. It is also used as an anti-shrinkage agent in concrete, which reduces surface tension and minimizes shrinkage/cracking as water evaporates from the concrete. It is also a building block for asphalt modification additives and in the production of imidazoline-based corrosion inhibitors.
