Triethanolamine is primarily used in the manufacture of surfactants such as emulsifiers. It is used in a wide variety of fields including sunscreens, liquid laundry detergents, dishwashing liquids, antifreezes, disinfectants, polishes, paints, corrosion inhibitors and inks. It serves as an organic additive in the grinding of cement clinker, as an active ingredient in ear drops and various cosmetic products in medicine, and as a pH stabilizer across many industries. It is also used as an intermediate in petroleum demulsifiers, a catalyst for polyurethane resins and in rubber vulcanization triggers.
